The first Starbucks opened in 1971 in Seattle, by men named Jerry Baldwin, Gordon Bowker, and Zev Siegel. They got their name from the famous novel Moby Dick. Their first four stores were all located in Seattle and they stood out from all of their competitors because of their top-quality fresh roasted coffees.
